Join Workers' Music Festivals happy volunteering group! We offer a variety of duties where everyone can find the most suitable one for them.

  • Volunteers commit to minimum of two shifts (á ~6-8h, depending on the duty)
  • Volunteering is a choice to help the community and thus it is unpaid work.
  • By choosing to volunteer you will get a "volunteer pass" that lets you around the festival area freely during each day.
  • Every workday we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at the volunteers canteen. Coffee, tea, water and small snacks are available in the break room during the festival.
  • Every volunteer also gets a festival t-shirt.
  • Mattress accommodation is available at Tietola school for those who have to travel to become a volunteer.
  • On Sunday we hold a thank you party for every volunteer.
  • You may ask for work certificate after the event from festival office.

 

VOLUNTEER DUTIES

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties before, during and after the festival.

STAGE HAND: 
Lets help the artist! Stage hands ensure that performances are running smoothly by helping the artists setting up in accordance to the provided information and technical riders (carrying equipment on and off stage). Stage hands are also expected to help move other items and equipment during the festival. This duty requires readiness for physical work.

CLEANUP AND RECYCLING: 
Cleaning crew ensures that the festival area and areas in the immediate vicinity are clean and toilets are in working order. We require fearless and flexible attitude.

DECORATION: 
On decoration team you can let your creative side free. Decorations are needed everywhere from Salakapakka restaurant to backstage. Duties begin before the festival and continue after it ends.

BARTENDING (K18): 
Duties include customer service, bartending and selling food, stock replenishing and other restaurant tasks. Shifts are mainly in the evening during the festival hours but there are available shifts starting in the morning. Bartending does not require hygiene pass or serving license but we require that you are over 18 years old. Customer service and sales skills are expected as well as teamwork and flexibility.

CATERING: 
Catering service ensures that volunteers are offered food and refreshments during the festival. This duty is very important because full stomach keeps the spirits high. Hygiene pass is not required, but it doesn't hurt. Most important thing is to keep the food on the table and places clean. Duty shifts are mainly during the festival hours.

TICKET SALES: 
In this task you get to interact with customers and show your positive and cheery customer service attitude. You will have to use cash register (guidance will be provided) and handle cash. We require good customer service skills, patience and diligence.

CONSTRUCTION AND DECONSTRUCTION: Duties include constructing and deconstructing the festival's structures (tents, fences, stages), as well as hanging signs and banderoles. You don't need to be construction worker or builder but the tasks are physically demanding. Work is done before, during and after the festival.

EVENT SECURITY:
Event security includes maintaining safety and guiding and controlling customers. Work is done during the event. We require security steward license, customer service skills and flexibility.

OTHER CUSTOMER SERVICE (E.G. INFO, TRAFFIC CONTROL, BICYCLE PARKING ETC.): 
There are many tasks you will be guided to do as needed in the festival area, for example customer satisfaction surveys.

We require customer service and teamwork skills and flexible attitude as with other customer service tasks. Smiling is recommended.

PHOTOGRAPHY: 
Task includes photographing and filming the festival area, artists, crowds and volunteers. Photographers use their own equipment. We require photography experience.
